2021 – Q4

Year 6 – October, 2021

Grandma Patti came to town on Thursday and she surprised you by picking you up from school! You knew she was coming, but you thought it would be later in the day. We went to the pumpkin patch to play and pick out some pumpkins for the porch. Your mom has been very excited to decorate this house’s porch for the fall for the first time. She did great! Now if the weather would get a little cooler, it would really start to feel like fall (I think it was 85 this week!)

It’s your mom’s birthday week! We celebrated with our usual pizza night on Friday (her actual birthday) and she wanted Longhorn Steakhouse for her birthday dinner. We also picked up a delicious ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. She loved it all! I also tried to hang out with you and Houston as much as possible to give your mom a little break. We did a lot of walking around the neighborhood and we even rode our bikes together for the first time. You also made a new friend (Wren) who lives on a nearby corner and is in Mrs. Fitzpatrick’s afternoon class.

You also painted pumpkins for the front porch. We bought one for Houston to paint, but he did a few strokes and then was done! He doesn’t have much attention span for this stuff, so he just moves on to the next thing.

Year 6 – November, 2021

It’s Thanksgiving time! My favorite food holiday by far! Grandma Patti and Grandpa Mark came down to be with us and it was fun having them here. It was also a big deal that Mark came because he doesn’t visit much. In fact, he hadn’t been down to Columbus in about three years. It’s not that he doesn’t want to see us, he just gets stuck in his ways and can’t miss bowling, golfing, or the Eagles!

Year 6 – December, 2021

It’s such a magical time of the year! The spirit of Christmas is everywhere and you and your brother just love it. And that means me and your mom love it. It really is magical and i can’t get over that. I just want to buy you everything, light up the house like the Griswolds, and do everything possible during this time of year. I also want to make sure you understand that we are very blessed financially and can afford lots of great presents for you and your brother. And to understand that not all kids are that lucky. We went and bought some toys at Big Lots to drop off for some children that are at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. It’s a small thing, but I hope it leaves an impact on you. As you get older and understand more, we will continue to do bigger and bigger acts of kindness for others.

  • We went to Butch Bando Trail of lights and you and Houston both loved it. We of course had to stop at Krispy Kreme donuts for mom and she got mad that i only ordered four instead of six! This is a fun little tradition that I hope we continue year after year.
