Week 168 – April 1 – April 7, 2019
One of the funny things you are doing is describing things you want rather than just coming out and saying it. For example: “I want something soft, black, and white” means that you want your blanket. “I want something soft and cakey.” means that you want a package of cake bites. My favorite was when you said you “wanted to play with something soft and kineticky” meaning you wanted to play with Kinetic Sand.
Baby Spitty is moving quite a bit more these days, especially when you sing. Right before we go to bed, you start singing to mom’s belly and Spitty goes crazy. He/She starts moving alot when you sing. It’s pretty amazing!
You didn’t nap Friday, so we went to the GymSkills. Mom would say I get more excited than you, and she might be right. But you really do love jumping on the trampoline and into the foam pit. You cry so hard when it’s time to leave.
You also did your first drawings of me and mom this weekend. They were quite hilarious, but also awesome!
You ate your first Pop-tart!
Week 169 – April 8 – April 14, 2019
It’s Masters week! My favorite week of the golf season.
It’s also starting to get nice outside so you and mom are able to do more things outside and we’re able to go on more walks when I get home from work. You love going for walks! Especially now since the frogs are out and it means that there will soon be the millions of little frogs similar to last year. You keep mentioning it and can’t wait!
We went to Blendon Woods Park on Saturday to play on the playground and explore the trails. None of us are huge nature experts/lovers, but we all like being outside and I like exploring a little more than your mom. But you really seem to like exploring and it’s so much fun sharing that with you! You love the playscape and swinging, but we also ventured out to the trails. You loved picking up the rocks, putting them in your pockets, and then throwing them in the water. You also loved hearing your voice echo in the woods, so you kept singing “Let it go” and “I want you to have it all” – Jason Mraz.
Also, Tiger Woods won the Masters!!!! It was eleven years since his last major victory. Nobody thought he would win again, much less a major, because of all the back and knee surgeries he’s had over the years. It was amazing!!! I was so happy.
Week 170 – April 15 – April 21, 2019
It’s Easter Week! Which also means it’s time to go see Disney’s Frozen on Ice!
We bought these tickets way back in the late Summer hoping that you would still be into Frozen. Well, we don’t have to worry about that! As soon as we walked in the they hit us with the merchandise table. Good thing we planned for this! You picked a really cool snowflake wand.
The cutest thing was you saying/waving goodbye to all the characters. It really was a magical evening and it made me teary-eyed to see the joy and excitement in your eyes.
You also got to dye Easter eggs and do an Easter egg hunt with Grandma Patti.
Week 171 – April 22 – April 28, 2019
Week 172 – April 29 – May 5, 2019
I was in Phoenix most of this week for our Big Lots Foundation Golf Classic. I’m sad that you and mom weren’t able to come with me, but we just couldn’t make it work. With Baby Spitty on the way soon, we decided to save our money in case of any complications with the pregnancy. My event was great and everyone had a fun time. It’s our largest foundation event and we raised over $6,000,000 for the foundation.
Because you and mom were unable to go to Phoenix with me, we wanted to do something else that would be a last trip as a family of three. We did some research and picked Indianapolis because they have the largest children’s museum in the world. We also picked it because they currently have a Paw Patrol exhibit.
If we hadn’t suggested it, you would have never left the Paw Patrol area. You looked so cute with your pup pack on and taking pictures with all your pup friends. We did explore a few other inside areas, which you enjoyed, and we rode the carousel a few times. I was most excited about the outdoor sports experience. You really didn’t share that excitement for some of the sports experiences, but that’s ok! You absolutely loved climbing the treehouse – we must have climbed that thing at least 20 times. We had such a great time spending the entire day at the museum.
You loved our ride along the canal. We rented a bike and you sat in the front while mom and I (pretty much just me) peddled. It was so much fun! You also loved the ottoman on wheels in our room. We probably didn’t need to do anything else and you would have had so much fun just riding back in forth in our room.
Week 173 – May 6 – May 12, 2019
On Wednesday night, you told us that we are “mean parents” and then proceeded to list the reasons: we change your diaper, we make you take naps, we make you brush your teeth, we make you put your jams on, we make you go to bed. You’re ridiculous! But you did say it with the cutest little smirk on your face. You also like to say “that’s not fair” for a lot of the reasons we are mean parents.
You have made big strides the past week in playing with other kids. You had no problem playing with two older boys in the Chick-fil-a playground. You talked with them and even played a few games with them. I’m also very proud of you for ordering your own milkshake. You said you wanted a milkshake, but I told you that you had to order it on your own and pay. You spoke loudly and clearly to the worker and he was very impressed and said how intelligent you were for being three. I’m so proud of you!
Week 173 – May 13 – May 19, 2019
Grandma bought you your first big girl bike. And of course, it was a Frozen bike! It’s going to take you a little while to get it, but that’s ok. It’s funny, you can really only focus on one thing at a time. When you focus on pedaling, you look down at your feet the whole time. When you focus on steering, you forget to keep your feet moving to pedal. It won’t take you too long to pick it up.
I don’t want to forget the little things:
- You love blowing and chasing around bubbles.
- You love running to the front door to see what birds are at the bird feeder.
- The joy you get from playing with Kinetic Sand and Play-doh.
- I could listen to you playing with your stuffed animals and figurines all day every day. You switch up the tone of your voice for different characters. Most of the time you use a very high pitched voice for your characters, but now you are starting to use a lower voice for the male characters.
- You love just sitting in a Sterilite container full of water and calling it your “little swimming pool”
- You love my stories at night and want one every night before you go to bed. I don’t know how long it will last, but I love it. Even when all I want to do is go to sleep, I can’t say no to you! You also want me to carry you like a baby into your bed, but we have to make sure that we don’t break mom’s foot when I set you down.
- The pure joy of swinging from my leg or riding on my shoulders and grabbing the leaves.
Scott Van Pelt, an ESPN anchor, said it best here.
Week 173 – May 20 – May 26, 2019
We still have not come up with a new for Baby Spitty! I think mom is getting a little stressed, but I know we will figure it out soon. This reminds us of one of our favorite shows, Friends. They are trying to come up with names for Rachel’s baby and every time a name gets mentioned, either her or Ross say “Veto”. Your mom and I always say that and you started picking it up. Every time Grandma Patti mentions a name, you always say “Veto”. It’s the cutest thing ever!
We had a fun weekend that included going to the Clippers game and taking you to Top Golf for the first time. You had so much fun hitting golf balls and you wanted to hit the whole time. We had to pry you off the mat to give everyone else a chance to hit balls. You insisted on using your plastic fisher price clubs rather than the kid ones they had for you at Top Golf. It was so cute! It did make me happy that you showed an interest in playing golf. Maybe you’ll pick up the game.
Me and you went to the trail park this weekend as mom stayed at home because she can’t walk a lot at this point in her pregnancy. It was a special time for me just hanging out with you. You loved swinging and throwing rocks in the water. You are not a big fan of bugs at this point in your life. If one gets on you, you scream bloody murder!
We also went to Ikea this weekend to pick out a changing table for Baby Spitty.
Week 174 – May 27 – June 2, 2019
Our annual Pelotonia bake sale is on Wednesday and you helped mom bake cookies and cream and snickerdoodle cookies for the sale.
We did one of the simplest, yet most amazing things this week. We played with bubbles in the rain! That’s it. Simple as that! You had so much joy and excitement playing in the rain. I loved every second of it as well!
We had an exciting night at our house on Wednesday. Someone smashed into my car while it was parked in front of our house. Me and you were sitting on the couch and we heard a loud “boom”. I thought it was loud thunder and you said you thought was a tree falling. A lady who had a little girl in her car, somehow hit my car. I don’t know how she did it, but she must have been going really fast. Her car moved my car back about 1.5 car lengths AND hit it up onto the curb. The best part, she drove a Prius! In the end, nobody was hurt, but they did have to tow my car because it had bad damage to the front wheel and axel. Good thing we have insurance! We’re not sure if the girl had insurance, but we’ll find out soon. We should find out soon what the damage to my car totals.
Now for some good news! It’s Memorial Tournament Week and we went to the tournament on Friday. I got tickets through work and the people at Experience Columbus for their suite at hole #13. This was you first Memorial Tournament and you had a great time! You were so well behaved and enjoyed all the food and snacks in the suite. The highlight of the tournament was when Tiger Woods made a long point for birdie right in front of us! You also really enjoyed the Goodyear blimp and the advertising airplanes flying by. It’s the little things that you enjoy and that I love the most!
Week 175 – June 3 – June 9, 2019
Week 176 – June 10 – June 16, 2019
We celebrated my 3rd Father’s Day. It was the best and they just keep getting better. I’m lucky and blessed to be your Father, but I couldn’t do it alone. Your mom helps make me the father that I am. She shows me every day what it means to be a great parent. She’s a super mom and I hope to be half of the parent she is. You make it pretty easy to be a dad. You’re such a sweet little girl and I love every second i get to spend with you. I’m sure what you will remember from these early days, but I hope we are creating memories and life lessons. We went to Bob Evan’s for breakfast, to see Secret Life of Pets 2, and Graeters for ice cream. The movie was good and you sat through the entire thing. We had a HUGE tub of popcorn and we even snuck in our own pickles to eat with it! Graeters was giving out Father’s Day cups again. The one we got two years ago is one of your mom’s favorite cups. She gets so mad because Graeters did nothing for Mother’s Day. Oh, I also got coupons for free coffees at Bob Evan’s. They also did nothing for Mother’s Day.
You also discovered your love for lightning bugs this weekend. It’s surprising because you are absolutely terrified of all other bugs.
Week 177 – June 17 – June 23, 2019
We went to watch a movie at The ‘Shoe this weekend and you loved it! You didn’t watch a second of the movie, but you enjoyed being on the field and running around.
Week 178 – June 24 – June 30, 2019
