2018 – Q1

Week 103- January 1 – January 7, 2018

Happy New Year! I quick look back on all the things that happened in 2017:

  • We moved to Ohio! I still can’t believe it!
  • You turned 1
  • Grandma Patti had her heart surgery and recovered nicely
  • The Houston Astros won the world series.
  • I went to my first football game at the Shoe
  • We experienced our first winter and first winter snow

As you start to develop more cognitive and social skills, it brings more joy to our every day lives! I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings us. Here are some things that I think might happen in 2018:

  • We move to another house
  • We finish saving for our emergency fund
  • We travel to texas to visit family
  • You will have a baby brother/sister or at least he/she will be cooking in the oven.
  • Your mom will find a hobby/side job that she really enjoys
  • You become more awesome than you were in 2017 🙂

Week 104- January 8 – January 14, 2018

We bought you a membership to Gymboree this week. It’s a little bit of a stretch for our budget, but we think it will be great for you to be active and get out of the house. It’s tough to find things to do during the cold winter days and this should be perfect until it warms up and we can use our Zoo membership.

Week 105- January 15 – January 21, 2018

Some of my favorite things you are saying:

  • “I need ____” We never know what is coming next in this sentence. Usually it is some sort of snack or toy.
  • “Daddy wanna run round and round” You just want to run in circles in the kitchen.
  • “Follow me daddy” You usually want me to go in the kitchen with you and run round and round. I love simply running circles with you in our tiny kitchen.
  • “I want to watch gubble guppies for a few minutes” You say this when you know it’s time to go to bed. We let you lay in our bed and watch cartoons for a few minutes before we take you to your room.
  • “I’m fine” this is your answer some times when we ask you if you want something.
  • “I need my snow boots” you say this every time we look out the window and it’s snowing.

Week 106- January 22 – January 28, 2018

It’s your birthday week! I still can’t believe you will be 2 on Sunday. We are going to Sandusky this week to celebrate your birthday and Grandma & Grandpa.

Some of your favorite things as you turn 2:

  • Paw Patrol Everything
    • Cartoon, stuffed animals which you call your “pups”, mashems, and the little figurines
  • Bubble Guppies
  • Fruit snacks
  • Watching Ryan’s Toy Reviews on your IPAD

We had a fun weekend celebrating your birthday. Here is who came to your party: Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Beth & Uncle Mike, Aunt Cathy & Uncle Dick, Link, Heather & Grayson. Your mom did a great job decorating your party with Paw Patrol themed decorations. Grandma made great cupcakes and we ordered pizza and wings from Chet & Matt’s. You also received lots of great presents.

Week 107- January 29 – February 4, 2018

We started our Pizza Party Fridays this week were we put a blanket down in the living room and eat on the floor. It was something really simple, but we all loved eating on the floor. Now when you see that blanket, you say “it’s pizza party time!”.

Week 108- February 5 – February 11, 2018

Week 109- February 12 – February 18, 2018

This week you were introduced to “wall puppets”. Now, every we lay down to get settled at night you want me and mom to do the puppets. Mom is the cat and I’m a duck. You want the cat to get the duck and you think it’s the funniest thing ever! It’s really cute when you decide to try and make the shadows yourself. This is one of those things that I’m glad I can right about so I won’t forget.

Week 110- February 19 – February 25, 2018

We took you to your first NHL game on Saturday. We were invited by someone from the convention center to sit in their suite. You loved the popcorn, pretzels, cantaloupe, and honey dew. I think you ate all of the melon in the suite! One of the cutest things was that you saw an advertisement for a bug company and kept asking everyone “Do you like bugs??” Even after they responded to you, you kept asking. It was really cute! The only part of the game you didn’t like was when the cannon went off after the Blue Jackets scored. We missed it the first time, but we covered your ears the other two times they scored. You also loved Stinger the mascot and the mini-blimp that would float around the arena during intermission.

Week 111- February 26 – March 2, 2018

My birthday was this week! But you still kept saying it was your birthday. It was cute! But you did get a little upset when you didn’t have any presents 🙂

Some funny things you are saying:

  • “mmm, I dunno?!”
  • What else i have? (when you are trying name another character or think of something else in a list of things.)

Week 112- March 3 – March 9, 2018

Week 113- March 10 – March 16, 2018

Week 114- March 17 – March 23, 2018

Something funny this week: You love the Progressive commercial where they say: “Seriously, do you think you look like him?” You have been asking mom to say it all the time.

We went to the zoo on Sunday. It was a little cold, but that meant the polar bears were out and active. The Columbus Zoo has a great polar bar exhibit where you can see them from above the water and you can go downstairs to see them swimming above you. The one polar bear was jumping from a rock into the water and you thought it was the coolest thing ever! Watching your reactions made my day.

Week 115- March 24 – April 1, 2018

It’s Easter week! We had no idea how excited you would be for Easter. We colored Easter eggs on Tuesday, which you thoroughly enjoyed. Once we were done coloring, you kept asking “Are they going to hatch little chicks?” First of all, where did you learn this? It’s amazing how much you are learning through either watching KidsTube or just being observant about the things around you.

Granny sent you an Easter box that arrived on Thursday. You were so excited to open it! Inside was an Easter basket for you containing candy, marshmallows, and a sock monkey bunny (which Grandma Patti really wants). But your favorite thing was a candy necklace and bracelet. This is the first time you had one, but i’m sure it won’t be the last. Mom said you woke up the next day and the first thing you asked for was your “candy necklace”.

Grandma Patti is coming town this weekend for Easter. Stay tuned for a fun weekend!

We had a great Easter weekend with Grandma Patti! On Saturday, we went to the Zoo. It wasn’t as cold as last time so there were quite a few more animals out. But the best part was that they had lots of famous rabbits for you to take pictures with. You loved it! On the Sunday, the weather was not that great so we had your Easter egg hunt inside. You still enjoyed finding the eggs and your big basket that included a paw patrol book and a Little Peoples school bus.

It’s so nice having Grandma so close to be able to come see you on the weekend.
